The Wedding

Bob and Katie chose this location almost immediately. They loved the quirky touches in the otherwise large, Victorian-esque house. The owner decorates the house for Christmas, so it's a perfect setting for their winter wedding!

The ceremony, with reception immediately following, will be held at Crystal Rose Manor, which is located at 501 North Palm Avenue, Hemet, CA 92543.

  • Date: December 12, 2009

Two factors went into choosing the date: Bob and Katie met in the middle of winter. Their romance was accentuated with the crunch of snow, chill-reddened cheeks and frequent hot chocolate breaks. Since there's no available Winter Wonderland in Southern California, they opted to at least choose the coldest month for their celebration. And who knows! Hemet has been known to see a little snow once in a while, perhaps they'll get lucky!

The last two years the Myers and Larson family had an addition to their Christmas table. Flying all the way from Australia, family friend Cory spends nearly a month in the US visiting several different friends in different states. Christmas and New Years are spent in Southern California with Bob, Katie and their families. Because of this, Katie and Bob scheduled their ceremony to ensure that Cory would be able to attend it during his annual visit. After all, the day wouldn't be complete without the man who, essentially, introduced them!

  • Hotel and Visitor Information

While the wedding is taking place in Hemet, that's about twenty minutes from our home in Murrieta. The following are a list of hotels in our area (Murrieta and Temecula) that we feel are decent. If you're coming from far away(Hi, Canadians!), remember our city is located smack in the middle (inland) of San Diego and Los Angeles if you're planning on doing some traveling. We're also four hours away from Las Vegas (see the Honeymoon page for open-invitation honeymoon plans to visit Las Vegas after the wedding).

The Temecula Creek Inn
Quality Inn - Wine Country
Pechanga
Comfort Inn & Suites - This is the closest hotel to our house.

There are a few other options available. We suggest using hotels.com and looking for either "Murrieta" or "Temecula." The event itself is in Hemet, California, but the Rehersal Dinner and any activities on the Sunday following the wedding will be in Temecula/Murrieta. Also, Hemet is more inland so if you're travelling back to any airports (or to Las Vegas with us!) you're tacking on an extra twenty minutes to your drive just to get to the freeway by staying there.

One important note for travelers: Despite being close (a two hour drive) to the Mexican border, we strongly advise against making that one of your destinations. The border and nearby cities are currently in turmoil and are not safe. Please keep your tourism to more friendly places, like some of the following:

The World Famous San Diego Zoo
Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure
Sea World
The Wild Animal Park
Seaport Village
Balboa Park (December Nights is on the 4th and 5th of December)
Old Town San Diego
Hollywood and Beverly Hills
Legoland
